HISTORY

    April 1, 1968

    Ritchie Smith Feeds is incorporated by Bill Ritchie and Dave Smith.

    1970

    The newly built Mill A is put into operation. This facility is still in operation but many improvements have been made over the years through equipment upgrades and re-design.

    1971

    Ritchie Smith office is built on the same site as our feed mill.

    1979

    Ritchie and Smith retire from the feed industry; Aart Spyker, Jake Isaac, Harry Bicknell and Al Leslie take over ownership of Ritchie Smith.

    1989

    Ritchie Smith purchases Sure Crop Feeds, located in Grindrod BC.

    1991

    Fred Fleming, Ken McKenzie, Rick Riemer and Ken Warkentin purchase Ritchie Smith.

    1997

    Mill B is built to increase production and to separate ruminant from non-ruminant feeds.

    2003

    Ritchie Smith becomes HACCP and FeedAssure certified.

    2006

    Ritchie Smith purchases the Unifeed mill located in Armstrong BC. This allows for the separation of ruminant from non-ruminant feeds in the Okanagan.

    2007 / 2008

    Marcotte process control software is installed in both mills to upgrade our automation.

    Summer 2008

    An expander is installed in Mill B to improve feed quality
